Serotonin and psilocybin are molecularly alike
Psilocybin–the psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms–has a similar molecular structure to serotonin, which is the neurotransmitter that regulates mood and perception in our brains. Research evidence is showing psilocybin treatments to be more effective therapy than many current strategies.
Why are scientists, therapists and others so excited about magic mushrooms and psilocybin?
1. They’re safe – non-addictive, essentially non-toxic, and pose no known side-effects.
2. They’re natural – you don’t get more natural than a mushroom growing in the earth.
3. They work – studies are showing truly remarkable results with some of the most difficult of patient cases – like lifelong addiction, and depression caused by terminal illness.
